Kazuo Ishiguro is a British author of Japanese descent, a screenwriter, and a laureate of the Nobel and Booker prizes. His book «Never Let Me Go» is a poignant story that rightfully belongs among the best English works of all time. This novel combines element of science fiction and dystopia, telling a story about searching for answers, love, friendship, memory, hope, and despair. Kathy, the main character, tries to understand and accept her childhood and youth at the privileged Hailsham boarding school and beyond, her difference from others, and the fate chosen for her and her closest friends to be donors. It’s a long journey through memories, sensations, and revelations that slowly construct a new world for the characters. «Never Let Me Go,» translated by Sofia Andrukhovych, is the first book by Kazuo Ishiguro published in Ukrainian. The publication was designed by Nazar Haiduchyk and Oksana Yorish, whose works, like snapshots from a painted film, added delicate emotional tension to the text, along with light and shadow play and dynamic accents.
