Memory binds us together like strong coffee on the front lines. But over time, memories fade, dissolving into daily concerns. Yet war leaves a mark that cannot be erased. Just close your eyes—and the scenes come alive like an old film projector, reminding you of what will never let go.
"We will always return here, to these trenches, to us—young and armed. You'll see. You'll understand later."
This book is a collection of diary entries, essays, short stories, and poems by Maksym "Dali" Kryvtsov, compiled by his friend and fellow soldier Valeriy Puzik. Maksym began documenting his thoughts in 2015 while serving in the 5th Battalion of the Ukrainian Volunteer Corps "Right Sector" and the Rapid Response Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine.
His writings span his service, demobilization, reflections on war, photography, travel, veteran work, children's camps, and even his passion for baking.
After the full-scale invasion, Maksym returned to the front as a machine gunner. He captured frontline life, photographed his comrades, and continued writing poetry.
Maksym is no longer with us, but his words, photographs, and poems live on, keeping his memory alive.
